  • PineTools & Artguru offer customizable unblurring features but Artguru doesn’t include grain effect.

4 Ways to Unblur Images

Picsart – Your Best Mobile Unblurring Tool

Picsart is excellent mobile app for photo editing and it’s my go-to for unblurring images. It has wide range of tools including AI-powered unblurring feature and it even has a browser version for editing on your computer.

To use browser version: go to Picsart Unblur Image tool and upload your photo. Process might take little time because Picsart is working its magic to improve your image. Once it’s done, you’ll see results immediately and you can download photo or open it in editor for further editing. Free users can download images at 2x quality while pro users can enjoy a 4x enhancement. If you want, you can download 2x version and run it through the upscaler again for better quality. Great part is that downloaded photo won’t have a watermark.

For mobile users: AI Enhance tool in the Picsart app works even better than the browser version. However, to use this feature and download the results, you’ll need to purchase a subscription. Just open your photo in the app, go to Tools, select AI Enhance and wait for the app to work its magic. You can adjust enhancement intensity and compare before and after versions. Once you’re happy with results, hit Apply and download or share your photo.

ProsCons
Powerful AI unblurring toolFree users can only download in 2x quality
Available on both mobile and webRequires a subscription for AI Enhance on mobile
Offers other editing tools in one appUploading large files can take time
No watermark on free downloads

Apple Photos – No Third-Party App Needed

If you have iPhone: you don’t need to download any extra apps to fix blurry photos. Built-in Apple Photos editor has tools that can help, even though there’s no dedicated unblurring feature.

To start- find photo you want to fix in your camera roll and tap Edit. Make sure you’re in Adjust tab, then scroll to find Definition tool. Turn it all way up and notice how it improves blurriness. Next, increase Sharpness to enhance details further. These two adjustments together can make a big difference in improving a blurry photo. If you’re on Android device: you can use Sharpen tool in Google Photos for similar effect.

ProsCons
No need to download a third-party appDoesn’t have a dedicated unblurring tool
Simple to use with native featuresLimited to iOS devices
Combines Definition and Sharpness tools for good resultsLess powerful than AI-driven tools

PineTools – Customizable Unblurring Online

PineTools is online platform with a variety of free tools including one for sharpening images. There’s no need to create account—just go to Sharpen Image tool and upload your photo.

What makes PineTools stand out is the customization it offers. You can choose between a 3×3 or 5×5 convolution mask and adjust strength of the sharpening effect with slider. This tool doesn’t rely on AI which is refreshing if you’re looking for something more straightforward. Once you’re satisfied with your settings, hit Sharpen and results will appear quickly.

When I used PineTools- I set the slider to about 90% with a 5×5 convolution mask.Image became much clearer but it did add a bit of grain. If you prefer less grain, try 3×3 mask, though it might not sharpen image as much. To save your edited phot- right-click and choose Save Image As.

ProsCons
Offers customizable unblurring optionsAdds grain to sharper images
Free to use with no account neededNot as user-friendly as mobile apps
Doesn’t rely on AILimited to browser usage

Artguru – Quick and Easy Unblurring

If you don’t like grain that PineTools adds to your photo, Artguru might be a better option. It’s simple to use—just upload your photo and tool does the rest.

You can compare before and after versions by dragging a slider. If you’re happy with results, click Download, and the photo will be saved to your files. Artguru smooths out the image rather than sharpening it which gives different but still effective result. For even better results- you might consider running your photo through Artguru more than once.

ProsCons
Fast and simple to useLacks customization options
Smoothens the image without adding grainMight require multiple runs for best results
No AI, quick processingLimited to browser usage

Tips to Avoid Blurry Photos

Best way to avoid the need for unblurring tools is to take clear photos from start. Here are some tips to help you avoid blurry shots:

  • Hold your phone steady when taking pictures.
  • Use a tripod to stabilize your phone.
  • Avoid taking photos in low light.
  • Consider using a third-party camera app that lets you control settings like ISO and shutter speed.

When you’re editing a blurry photo, you can also try increasing the contrast and lowering the highlights and shadows. This won’t fix the blur, but it can make the image look sharper and more defined. Experiment with the basic adjustment settings to see what works best for your photo.
