Discover shortcut ideas, try out a tablet’s updated address bar, and save time with new Chrome features.
Accessing information on a mobile device should be as easy as on a computer. We’re excited to introduce five new upgrades for Chrome on iOS and Android to make searching from your phone or tablet even simpler.
More Chrome Actions to access nearby locations
We’ve introduced new Chrome Actions to help you save time when interacting with local businesses. Now, when you search for a restaurant, you’ll see shortcut buttons to quickly call, get directions, and read reviews directly in the search results.
Currently available in Chrome on Android, this feature will also be coming to Chrome on iOS this fall.
Tablets now have an updated address bar
We have updated the Chrome address bar on iPads and Android tablets to make better use of their larger screen sizes and align with our Material You design language. Now, when you choose to return to a website using the address bar, it will always be accessible beneath the drop-down menu, providing a more convenient and seamless browsing experience
New Chrome shortcut suggestions
Our new shortcut suggestions feature adds a personalized touch to your address bar on both Android and iOS Chrome devices. It helps you navigate to websites by predicting what you typically enter to get there. For example, if you often type ‘schedules’ to see the timings for the City Metro, this new functionality will recognize this and show City Metro higher in your search results. This feature is designed to make your browsing experience faster and more efficient by anticipating your needs based on your usual search patterns.
Trending searches on iOS in Chrome
Facing increasing competition from firms such as Arc, Google declared on Wednesday that it would be incorporating five additional features into the Chrome browser for smartphones in an effort to enhance the search experience.
When you click the URL bar from the New Tab page, these trending topics will appear below your recent searches, giving you instant access to what’s currently popular and relevant.
Explore Feed on Chrome now features new sports cards
On iOS and Android, Chrome’s Discover Feed on the New Tab page now features live sports cards. If you follow your favorite team or have shown interest in them, you’ll receive automatic updates on game progress whenever they play.
You can customize the Discover Feed in the Chrome app by tapping the three-dot menu, ensuring you receive updates tailored to your interests. Stay informed about your favorite teams and sports events in real-time. By personalizing your feed, you can easily stay connected and engaged with the latest updates on the sports and topics you care about most.
