I’m Still Paying for YouTube Premium Even Though It’s Expensive. Here’s Why

I'm Still Paying for YouTube Premium Even Though It's Expensive. Here's Why it's worth it for ad-free videos, downloads, and more.

Even with the price increases for YouTube Premium, I’m still content to pay the monthly subscription fee. Even though it costs more now, I think it’s worth every cent. Although I still have subscriptions to other streaming services like Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV & Amazon Prime, none of them can match what YouTube Premium has to offer.

Unlike traditional streaming platforms, YouTube Premium gives me an ad-free experience, background play, and the ability to download videos for offline viewing. These features make it a must-have for me, even with the rising cost. I’m still paying for YouTube Premium even though it’s expensive because I use YouTube daily for entertainment, education and even work-related content.

The convenience of skipping ads alone saves me so much time and background play lets me listen to videos like podcasts while multitasking. When I compare this to the cost of other services, YouTube Premium still feels like a solid investment. So, despite YouTube Premium’s price hikes, I have no plans to cancel my subscription anytime soon.

Why I’m Still Paying for YouTube Premium Despite the Cost

YouTube Has Endless Content for Every Interest

I’m Still Paying for YouTube Premium despite its high cost because there is so much stuff available. Almost any topic is covered by YouTube creators which keeps me informed and entertained.

Since I love tech, I follow channels like Linus Tech Tips, Gamers Nexus and Dave2D for the latest updates and reviews. But my interests go beyond just gadgets—I’m also passionate about cars and aviation. That’s why I enjoy watching Donut Media, Found and Explained and Engineering Explained for their in-depth content. When I want something more educational or thought-provoking, I turn to Vox, Johnny Harris, Wendover Productions and Simple History for entertaining and well-researched videos.

I usually find something interesting when I open YouTube thanks to its algorithm. And I can easily reset them to receive new suggestions based on my interests if the suggestions ever start to feel strange.

Another reason I love YouTube is the video length. Most of the content I watch is between 10 and 30 minutes long—perfect for quick entertainment while I’m doing other activities but not so long that it eats up my entire day. Whether I’m looking for tech deep dives, car breakdowns or history lessons, YouTube always has something engaging.

Ad-Free Viewing on All Devices

Since I watch a lot of YouTube videos, paying for YouTube Premium is totally worth it just to remove ads. Watching five videos a day means I’d sit through about a minute of ads daily—adding up to around 30 minutes every month. By paying a small fee, I get that time back and can enjoy my content without interruptions.

The best part? YouTube without ads isn’t just available on my phone. On my tablet and smart TV I can also watch without intrusive commercials. When I have company around & we want to watch anything together without taking frequent pauses, this is very helpful.

Another reason I stick with YouTube Premium is that my subscription helps support my favorite creators. Instead of relying only on ad revenue, they get a share of my monthly fee whenever I watch their content. Plus, the Family plan makes it even more affordable. If at least two people in your household watch YouTube a lot it’s definitely worth considering.

Watch Videos Anytime with Offline Downloads

Watching YouTube videos is a great way to pass the time, especially while traveling. However, streaming high-quality videos can use up a lot of mobile data, which can get expensive. That’s why YouTube Premium is a must-have for me—it allows me to download videos in advance so I can watch them anytime without worrying about data charges.

This is especially useful when flying, where mobile data isn’t available and in-flight Wi-Fi is often too expensive. With downloaded videos I can enjoy my favorite content even when I’m offline.

The Smart Downloads function is yet another fantastic benefit of YouTube Premium. I always have something to watch, even if I suddenly lose internet connectivity, because it automatically saves videos depending on my interests. My watching experience is more comfortable & seamless when I download YouTube videos whether I’m in a remote location, on a lengthy flight or simply trying to preserve data.

YouTube Premium Includes YouTube Music

Fact that YouTube Music Premium is included in YouTube Premium at no additional expense is among its best features. When compared to other streaming services this makes it an incredible bargain.

For example: Spotify Premium costs $11.99 per month, while YouTube Premium costs $13.99 per month. That means for just $2 more, you’re getting an ad-free YouTube experience along with a full-featured music streaming service. It’s like paying for Spotify but also unlocking YouTube’s premium benefits at a small extra cost.

YouTube Music’s library is just as large as Spotify’s, so you won’t miss out on your favorite artists. Plus, it offers smart recommendations and AI-generated radio stations that help you discover new music based on your taste. If you ever feel like the recommendations aren’t great, there are ways to fine-tune YouTube Music’s algorithm to better match your preferences.

Since I already use YouTube daily, bundling premium music streaming with ad-free YouTube content makes it a no-brainer. It saves me money, gives me more control over my entertainment and enhances my overall experience.

Background Play Makes YouTube Podcasts Better

We’ve moved past the days of relying solely on radio and TV for content which is why podcasts are more popular than ever. However, not all podcasts are available on traditional music streaming platforms like Spotify or Apple Music. Some podcasters prefer video podcasting making YouTube the only place to find their content.

While doing other things, like taking a stroll, washing dishes or commuting, I like to listen to podcasts. Background music is therefore essential to me. I can multitask & preserve battery life by watching YouTube videos without utilizing the phone’s screen. I can check my fitness tracker, reply to messages and browse the web without disturbing the podcast thanks to this feature.

Despite price increases, I still pay for YouTube Premium because of these minor but important advantages. Even though I dislike the additional expense, I still find the service to be worth it. Actually, before terminating YouTube Premium, I would probably stop using Netflix, Apple TV, or another streaming provider if I had to reduce my membership.
